New Donations to Support Music and the Ski and Snowboard Club

As we approach the new year, we want to thank the community for all their support over the years and especially the past few months. Your volunteerism and donations are very much appreciated by all of us, especially our students who directly benefit from your generosity.
We want to thank the Mt. Sunapee Ski Club for their donation of $4000 and the Kiwanis Club for their donation of $3000 to our Ski and Snowboard Club. Their generosity will enable us to offer financial aid to all students who want to participate but need help to cover the fees. This Ski and Snowboard Club program provides students with an opportunity to engage in an outdoor winter activity that fosters physical fitness, teamwork and personal growth and fun. The club is open to all middle and high school students but does have some costs involved (instruction, equipment rental, lift passes, etc.) and these donations will offset some of those costs.
We’d also like to thank so many people who have stepped up to help our CMS music program. After the departure of our previous instructor, we hired a substitute teacher for music while we continued a search for permanent hire. The substitute teacher is only available part-time. Interim Superintendent Kennedy, Chelsea Weatherford, George and Lori Ward, Michelle and Rod Beaton, Eric Linke, Marie Boggis, and Meena Gyawali and Dale Chenette have been meeting to brainstorm options with Taylor Trudeau, our SHS music teacher. Taylor has graciously volunteered to work on planning and execution of the grant, assisting with the music planning discussions alongside Melissa Richmond from West Claremont Center for Music and Arts (WCCMA). Their hard work and grant funding from SHS, private donations, and generous donations from the NH Charitable Trust and the Kiwanis Club totaling $49,775 are making this possible, at no cost to Claremont Schools or the taxpayers.
Our schools have always thrived because of our supportive community, and we appreciate it even more this year!
